The presentation of EXTREM-KER® products in Cevisama 2011 has been a success from the first day of the event.
EMTREM-KER® products differ from other traditional roof tiles because of the firing process in a monolayer roller kiln, where we achieve a high firing temperature, which gives the material a low water absorption rate, high dimensional and caliber stability and high mechanical strength. By firing the roof tiles without any kind of contact between them we get a high quality and uniformity in surface finishes obtained by monocotura process.
The annual event dedicated to construction for the Saudi market was held from 18th to 21st October in Riyadh and has gathered companies from over 15 countries, apart from local agents that are fed from a growing market, thanks to the increasing flow of investment in both public and private construction projects.
The wide range of Tejas Borja s products has been well received by SAUDI BUILD 2010 visitors and was widely accepted, particularly the exclusive format of interlocking roman tile TB-4 Quattro ® in a large colours variety.
After the success of the received visits and interesting projects that were dealt during those days, Tejas Borja Export Sales Department has evaluated very positively the obtained results regarding market opening and successful products introduction.
The several options offered by Tejas Borja bring the opportunity to experiment with lots of colours and finishings to make our roofs unique.
For more than 110 years, Tejas Borja didn’t stop working in order to offer to the roof market the highest levels of quality and security, with the main purpose in offering its roof tiles upon all the world markets with the most advanced technology.
In all our manufacturing processes, there are continuous improvements allow us to obtain all the mandatory certificates of compliance for our roof tiles and their accessories. From this point, we have the technology to create new roof tiles Tejas Borja mandatory with the new European norm. The roof tiles fulfil all the required criterions for each range of size but also the criterions concerning the freezing resistance norm UNE EN1304 , with the level 3 ( of 150 cycles) by the freezing resistance method E described in the UNE-EN539-2 norm. This news norm is expected for the end of the 2011 year, after the end of the coexistence of the two norms (the former and the new).

Last Tuesday I had the chance to visit 110 years old family business in Valencia, where the 3rd generation is on charge.
After my meeting I came to learn more about its development, difficulties and actual challenges and I had a solid conclusion: We must be proud of our local businessmen. In the case, the company has specialized in the manufacturing of roof tiles with a global production of 65 million units per year being considered a reference of high technology in the industry. I believe that as entrepreneurs have taken many strategic decisions and attitudes brave and intelligent, that I wish to comment, but for lack of space, I am compelled to point out, only five of them because they are the ones that caught my attention, but since then the list has not the slightest intention of being closed or exclusive. The first, as I said is specialization. Working only one product allows the factory to offer a vast and complete range of colours, shapes and formats, so any need in the market could be satisfy. These decisions are not easy to be taken and they prove a certain conclusion: as a company they know what they want and they have a strategy to achieve it.
The second was to invest in increasing its capacity and increase its productivity in 2004 and 2006. This is a must see factory because they are modern and are focused on strategic purpose, but mostly they are brave, very brave. The resources generated are reinvested in the business and are supported with external capital in a time when the construction industry was an easy and profitable target. Let s put it this way, as shareholders they risk and reinvest.
Third is about internationalization. Portugal, France and Germany, also Persian Gulf and America. With marketing and distribution networks in each country. Only those who have tried to export in countries like France they know how hard and difficult it is to try to get in and put a dent in highly protected and closed areas. Therefore, being competitive and having an adequate productivity become key elements for success in international markets.
Next is the amount of space, people and time, in other words, resources and efforts, what it is, money spent on innovation and development. Lines and departments working exclusively in order to get novelties and a common goal which is a better adjustment to the customer needs. Investment in the short term, it will be profitable, but are essential to achieving the desired positioning and productivity.
And last but not least, I was impressed by the effort and work capacity combined with a large dose of humility that motivates them to be prepared and trained for the next challenges that this decade will face.
Being with Pablo Casanova meant to reconfirm things I already knew, or as some had imagined, and is a true example that I can say loudly that we should be proud of our businessmen and leave the question to whom it may concern: What else should be done by a company that is specialized, keeps investing, innovating and reaching international market to face the crisis? Don t you think they deserve all the support and backing to confront these difficult times?
During the international exhibition Cevisama 2010 the Alfa gold awards granted by the Spanish Society of Ceramics and Glass to the best products presented by Cevisama exhibitors have been given. These awards recognize the efforts in R & D technology, process and design of the ceramic industry represented in the exhibition.
Among the winners is Colores Cerámicos, a company which has won the award for the development and adaptation of environment friendly water-based inks for decoration of digital systems.
By applying these new decoration techniques they have been able to obtain high definition decorations of pieces with large reliefs and difference of levels, as in the case of curved tiles, in what they have obtained excellent results in the decoration on both sides.
In this development they have worked closely with the Tejas Borja R & D department.
On December 10th, Tejas Borja received the Internationalisation Price 2009 given by The Chamber of Commerce of Valencia.
Dedicated to production and distribution of ceramic roof tiles in the national and international market, the company got, in this act, the main award given by this institution recognising the effort, the dedication, the seriousness and the honesty and also because of the confidence and the security this company has transmitted to its customers, distributors and collaborators for many years with its experience in the market.
In the same act, coinciding with the celebration of its 110 anniversary, Tejas Borja achieved the Diploma as a centenary company in recognition of its course.
The serious project that the family Ramón Borja started 110 years ago in Alicante area with a lot of effort and dedication has allowed Tejas Borja now to offer the best technology with the best quality and service to both markets, national and international. The Valencian chamber of commerce has recognised this effort by giving in 2009 the internationalisation price because Tejas Borja is now the reference brand of roof tiles all around the world.
To celebrate the 110 anniversary we have launched a new catalogue with the last innovations. We have also reinforced our production, our picking and warehouse service in order to give good attention to our always growing markets.
