First EASY ROOF INTEGRATION (ERI) Project in Spain

ERI_Entrepins-TejasBorja

A wonderful renovated house with all the improvements on the roof side: insulation system, integration of photovoltaic panels and high quality roof tiles, thus achieving an aesthetic and functional integration.

Last June saw the first installation of the Easy Roof Integration (ERI) photovoltaic panel integration system in Spain. An ideal solution for photovoltaic installations integrated into the roof plane, so that they do not affect the watertightness or safety of the roof.

This project consisted of an energy refurbishment of a single-family house in Madrid. For the renovation work on the pitched roof, after removing the old tiles and cleaning up the support, the property and the technicians responsible for the project selected the BorjaSAT 140mm thick prefabricated panel system to insulate the roof of the house.

BorjaSAT is an external roof insulation solution, which forms a covering layer without thermal bridges, designed to be installed easily and without the need to set out the battens for fixing the tiles. With the 140mm panel, a transmittance of 0.22 W/m2k was obtained, a value well above what is required by the Technical Building Code in this climate zone.

With the thermal insulation solved, the other problem of this refurbishment was to be able to install a photovoltaic solar collection system that would not affect the design of the house so much. For this reason, the ERI integrated solution was chosen, where the photovoltaic panel is fixed on a system of watertight frames to the structure of the roof system’s battens.

This solution, in addition to improving aesthetics and integration, avoids future pathologies, such as leaks due to poor installation or expansion of the coplanar metal structures that are usually installed. It also eliminates the possibility of birds or rodents nesting under the panels, with the consequent damage to the wiring and aesthetic impact due to dirt.

Finally, in the event of storms with strong winds, as they are anchored and integrated into the plane of the tile, the panels cannot be torn off by strong gusts, as has happened on numerous occasions with installations superimposed on the roof, which constitute a danger to the integrity of pedestrians in the area.

To complete this refurbishment, the tile chosen was the TB-10 TECH Entrepins S-Interlocking roof tile. A large roof tile model manufactured by Tejas Borja with digital ceramic printing; an aged finish, created from HD photographs on real old tiles, giving the appearance of a recovered tile to a state-of-the-art product.

In 2023, 400 of them have taken part in our BP electrical accreditation training for the installation of photovoltaic solutions.
  • Massively reducing our carbon footprint: 2023 marked the acquisition of Ceritherm, a pioneering manufacturer of energy-efficient industrial furnaces, reinforcing Edilians Group’s expertise in decarbonizing its industrial facilities.
  • Offering rewarding human career paths: June 2023 saw the conclusion of a new company-wide agreement in France on gender equality, diversity and disability, spelling out the Group’s means of action on these three commitments.
  • Structuring our actions: Edilians Group reaffirms its responsibility by confirming its support for the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact. At the same time, our company renews its EcoVadis silver medal in France (72/100, 94th percentile), and Edilians Tech obtains the platinum medal (80/100 99th percentile), for the evaluation of its CSR approach.

These achievements are just some of the avenues for progress on which we are renewing our commitment today and, in the years, to come. We invite you to discover more in our full CSR report.

Thank you for your trust and continued support.

Tejas Borja celebrates the rehabilitation and sustainability in Hispalyt’s Roof Tile Architecture Awards 2021-2023

premiosHispalyt

It is exciting to announce that Tejas Borja has, once again, been a protagonist in the Roof Tile Architecture Awards 2021-2023, organised by Hispalyt. This event recognises excellence in architecture through the use of ceramic tiles.
The jury of this edition, composed of renowned professionals of the sector, awarded the prizes in the three categories: New Construction, Refurbishment and the new category of Sustainability with Tile. We are proud to have collaborated on the winning projects that stand out for both their innovative design and their commitment to sustainability.

Rehabilitation Award:

  • Project: A new life for Mas Carpi (Una nueva vida para Mas Carpi)
  • Studio: Estudi NUA (Arnau Tiñena Ramos, Ferran Tiñena Guiamet, Maria Rius Ruiz)
  • Photography: José Hevia
  • Roof tile manufacturer: Tejas Borja

The rehabilitation project has restored and replaced the structure with local stone and laminated wood, adding a Flat-10 Red ceramic flat tile roof. They have also added improvements in lighting, ventilation and photovoltaic solar panels. This intervention has sought to preserve the essence of the old building and its relationship with the landscape, using natural materials and passive bioclimatic strategies.

Sustainability Award:

  • Project: Alfacs
  • Studio: Bajet Giramé and JAAS (Maria Giramé Aumatell, Pau Bajet Mena, Manuel Julià)
  • Photography: Joan Guillamat
  • Roof tile manufacturer: Tejas Borja

The transformation and renovation project involving two central buildings with visible C-50.21 Celler Shaded White curved tile pitched roofs, bungalows, a swimming pool, and new built terraces creates an environment of comfort and sustainability. With a focus on thermal inertia and the use of local materials, the project has revitalised the campsite, integrating natural and architectural elements that respect and enhance the coastal landscape, offering a unique and ecological experience for visitors.

While we celebrate and congratulate the teams involved and recognised for their projects, we underline the importance of the Hispalyt Roof Tile Architecture Awards as the biennial competition promoted with a double purpose: on the one hand, to value the architectural production of our country that uses ceramic tiles and, on the other, to seek a greater dissemination and social repercussion of the most significant works built during the corresponding period. It should be noted that, in the six editions held, several projects awarded for their architecture, design and use of roof tiles have used Tejas Borja ceramic roof tiles. This reaffirms our commitment to excellence and innovation in the sector.
