This week we received the visit of a group of 30 students from the Netherlands, organized through Route 66 Idiomas (Valencia). We were able to present the business model of Tejas Borja Company and the manufacturing lines of our ceramic tiles. As part of the visit, the students have attended a company presentation were they showed great interest both for the organization of the company as for Tejas Borja products offered in the catalogue. They have also made a tour around our factory to learn about the manufacturing process of ceramic tiles.

Tejas Borja is proud to present its new 2016 catalogue “RAISE the Roof” – A century around tiles.
On the new catalogue we present our latest product line: The ROOF COMPONENTS. This wide range of products are designed for the dry installation of the roof tiles and with the proposal of developing healthier, lighter and energetically more efficient roofs with a longer useful life. We offer solutions relative to ventilation, waterproofing, fixation and lighting.
There is also a bigger quantity of high definition pictures of roofs to choose what model fits to each client and different installation guides for every format of roof tile on the catalogue.
Over the last years there has been an increasing use of this type of membranes under the roof tiles. The installers started using these as initial protection of the roof before this is completely finished, assuring the water tightness in case of rains during the execution of the works. After that the membranes are preventing from possible hurts due to water filtering through the tiles.
On the other hand, this increase of demand has done that there are on the market a big number of products of this typology, appearing sheets of different qualities and prices which in numerous occasions are compared between them, being this an erroneous behaviour.
The most important parameters to watch out regarding these membranes are that these sheets have an official declaration of properties (CE marked), where there remain indicated the values obtained in the obligatory tests that the norm demands to this type of products of waterproofing.
The most important technical parameters to choose a roofing membrane the following:
– Water vapour transmission (Sd) – Maximum tensile strength along and across – Resistance to tearing (nail shank) along and across – Reaction to fire – Resistance to Water Penetration
These parameters, together with the guarantees that the manufacturer offers, will determine the quality of the waterproofing and breathable membranes.
The 1st Ceramic Architecture Prize has been granted for the first time in 2014, to the rehabilitation project of the “Atarazanas de Barcelona”, of the architects Roberto and Esteve Terradas. The jury valued the careful rehabilitation of the roof, in this building of cultural use and of great historic value.
In the rehabilitation of the “Royal Atarazanas (Drassanes) of the Port of Barcelona” the ancient look of the roof was achieved by the products of Tejas Borja (Curved Celler® Roof tiles Centenarias®) and special big sized ridges that were glazed in a green color, and were reproduced for the occasion following the same design, regarding both shape and color, as the original ones.
The 2nd edition of the Ceramic Architecture Prize, in the category of Roof Tiles, is convened to value the architectonic productions that use the roof tile as building material.

Flat 10 clay roof tile format by Tejas Borja was recently awarded the BEST EXTERIOR BUILDING PRODUCT by members of the Editorial Board of Architecture Ireland during the last edition of Architecture Expo Show 2014.
Flat 10 clay roof tile, an EXTREM-KER® product: low porosity (<3%), high dimensional stability, superior mechanical strength, water absorption (< 3%), maximum flatness, light weight (37 Kg./sq.m.), includes natural Slate laminated texture not only on the surface, but around the tile, in the sides and mouth.
